Weekend at the Gorgeous and Cozy Wild Olive Lodge

During September we decided to book an airbnb. We knew we wanted to rent a cabin in Big Bear since it is one of the most popular cities in California. So we did research and found a really nice cabin in Big Bear but at the time we just put it in the wishlist and for some reason did not book it immediately. Big mistake not booking the airbnb asap. By the time we were trying to book it we noticed it was already booked during the days we were planning to take this trip. Little did we know it was the start of the search for one of the most beautiful mountain cabins in one of the most peaceful and friendliest towns we were going to visit this year.

Now I had never heard of Running Springs, CA before. As we did research and looked at many arbnbs we ran across this gorgeous cabin located near both Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. As soon as we saw the Wild Olive Lodge we fell in love. It gave off a cozy and homy vibe while still being elegant and inviting. And most importantly it was affordable and was big enough for all 7 of us.

There was the main living room which was located next to the dining room, kitchen, main bathroom, and very conveniently close to the theater room. It was an open concept main area perfect for entertaining and the best way to keep the whole family together despite the different activities and conversations going on during the weekend.

Every room was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. It felt like every detail and object had a purpose and was carefully collected over time to create the most welcoming and gorgeous home. There was enough towels for the 7 of us and was stocked with lots of toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and dish soap. Along with a washer and drier that you can use during your stay. In case you and the family are thirsty they have a cold refreshing pitcher of great tasting water in the fridge and lots of ice to last you the whole weekend.

As soon as we entered we were greeted with a very well heated cabin that smelled great, a screen that said welcome and a sweet note from the owner. Along with our note was a bottle of wine, a snack and a great smelling candle. The kitchen was stocked with coffee and creamers and the home theater was well stocked with popcorn and candy.

There was also a bbq that we used to cook a delicious breakfast, an outdoor dining and lounging area, a fireplace with chairs around and my favorite thing of all time the jacuzzi.

The most important thing it is very peaceful and quiet. And we were extremely lucky to meet friendly people willing to help you in a time of need. The car we took suddenly stopped working the second day when coming back from Big Bear in Lake Arrowbear. Luckily the driver was able to make it to the entrance of the gas station and we were not blocking the traffic. Two guys quickly came to the rescue and helped us move the car with special equipment they owned and with their truck. Right after two other friendly guys tried helping us push the car. The two men that helped us move the car helped us in so many ways and even checked the car and told us exactly what the problem was.

The men to our surprise owned a shop and were professional car people. They called the closest auto store and asked if they had the part we needed and offered to put the part and fix the car for a tiny price. They even drove the driver miles away to get the part and bring it back to fix the car. Thanks two those amazing guys we were able to enjoy the last night and day in the cabin and were able to make it all the way home safely without car problems at all.

The host Nikki was very nice and was there in case we had questions and/or concerns before and during our stay. Thank you Nikki it was great staying at the lovely Wild Olive Lodge. Me and the family truly loved relaxing, unwinding and making memories. We would definitely be back and stay at the Wild Olive Lodge again and again. Until next time.

NOTE: All pictures were taken by the owner Nikki and could be found on airbnb along with many more amazing images of this gorgeous home.
