At Home Cafe
Ok so the Super Bowl Sunday came and so did the opening of Cafecito: donuts and gossip. If it is your first time reading this blog Cafecito is the name of the at home cafe me and my sister hosted yesterday during Super Bowl Sunday.
So the day came and we woke up bright and early and headed to get the last couple of things we needed which were just strawberries and a dozen donuts.
We headed home and I quickly set up our whole set up. The decor was already there. So I just needed to get everything I needed ready to start making the drinks. I fixed everything on the dining table you see pictured below. Sorry I did not take a picture of that since it was just a simple set up. I had the matcha, strawberries, banana milk, caramel, coffee pods for the hot coffees and the Keurig. As well as all the bowls and equipment I needed in order to make the drinks. We also set the donuts, straws, napkins and plates for the guests to help themselves infront of the dining table. All the things that needed to be refrigerated were kept in the fridge and I just grabbed them every time I needed them since I was making drinks throughout the whole day. The ice was also kept in the freezer and was grabbed as needed as well.
I did not go big on the decor for the at home cafe but I did try to add some elements to make it festive and give it a cafe vibe. I started with a balloon garland and a balloon column pictured below. I also placed a loteria iced coffee card next to the balloon column.

Since the main thing were the drinks I put a menu on the wall so that guest could take a peek at what we had on the menu for the day. Although to be honest I do not think it was necessary since I also printed and laminated the menu so that my nephew who volunteered to be the waiter could have it and show it to the guests as soon as they walked in. Oh and he did a phenomenal job as a greeter and waiter for the guests. We could not have had such a success hosting this event without his help. He was very good at taking the orders and writing them down and communicating with me about all the requests. We even had orders that were preordered and he nailed those as well. On top of that he was also picking up and collecting the glasses, washing them and keeping them clean for the next set of drinks since we used regular glasses instead of plastic cups. So if he reads this thank you so much for all your help since he was also asking guests if they wanted something else on the menu.
I was in charge of making all the drinks and I enjoyed it. Specially after a while since family members seemed to be enjoying them and some of them asked for seconds and even thirds. Not recommended for guests to consume that much sugar but they enjoyed it and at the end that is what you want from your guests to enjoy it and for them to be comfortable asking for more.
The most popular drink had to be the iced coffees in particular the vanilla iced latte. In second was the caramel frappe which my brother asked for seconds and the hot chocolates. Last but not least in third place was the matcha drinks in particular the classic iced matcha and the strawberry matcha.
I am going to add this though very important note please be aware of your guests needs since they are the most important thing when hosting. Our mistake and something I did not anticipate despite it being obvious and very common sense in a cafe. You need to offer lactose free options no matter what in any cafe or event. I was thinking of getting like an oat or a lactose free option for anyone that wanted that but at the end I did not buy it and only had regular milk. Well huge mistake because one of my family members was lactose intolerant and let's just say I learned a huge lesson.

I also added these images of drinks and a donut as well as a big welcome sign on the walls. And obviously a logo or two of the cafe.

And for fun I threw some hearts on the walls as well.

Decided to add some glow infront of the tv and candles.

Put a simple plastic pink tablecloth on the living room coffee table, some flowers, a candle and the loteria that we did not get to play since everyone was hooked on the tv watching the Super Bowl.

Despite this event being our very first one to host I think we did a pretty good job and can not wait for our next event coming up soon. Oh and if anyone is wondering we had pizza, wings, chips and we also had shrimp cocktail that day so the guests had food and snacks besides the drinks and donuts being offered. So if you are looking to save some money host something small during a big day where you know there is going to be food and you will not have to offer as many options as a regular cafe. Also it is a great way to not overwhelm yourself and like I said before maybe more people show up as well. Until next time.
